ABOUT THE COURSE:
DAY 1:
Under the expert guidance of textile artist Alyson Thomas, you will you will learn how to set up your machine (no fancy embroidery machine needed), learn and practise the basics of free-motion embroidery and spend the rest of the day designing and creating your own textile art using applique and free-motion stitching. If you feel you are not particularly arty or creative there will be templates and designs to use; or you can let your imagination run wild.

After completing your design, you will learn how to apply this to a backing fabric which will then be used to construct an envelope style cushion cover. As cushions are a matter of personal taste, you should bring your own backing fabric for your cushion, plus your own cushion pad if desired.

ABOUT THE TUTOR:
Alyson Thomas is a talented textile artist and recently retired English Teacher. She now runs The Blue House, a beautiful haberdashery situated on the River Tawe in the picturesque village of Ystradgynlais, in the Swansea Valley.
She has a wealth of experience in exhibiting and selling her work, teaching workshops and running textile art groups. In addition, she has been a member of several craft co-operatives, sat on the committee of the Swansea Festival of Stitch and also ran her own craft shop for five years...somehow finding the time to teach teenagers during the week!

She is so excited about sharing her passion with you.
WHAT'S INCLUDED:
Sewing machines, embroidery hoops, bondaweb, scraps of fabric, threads, sewing equipment such as scissors, tape measures, fabric markers, pins, etc. will all be available for your use. You are welcome to bring your own fabric scraps and machine, if you prefer.
You will also have access to unlimited tea and coffee. Maybe even a biscuit or two!
