Crochet a Christmas Garland

COST: £55

DATE: Sat 3rd Dec 2022

TIME: 9.30am-4pm

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Your tutor Becky will welcome you to the studio with mince pies and a hot drink while she introduces you to the basic crochet techniques needed to produce a beautiful Christmas garland. She will explain the differences in UK and US crochet terminology and show you some examples of crocheted items.
The Christmas garland project includes 5 basic stitches and allows the maker to produce a finished item using basic techniques, which they can build upon and/or replicate at home. With patient guidance, demonstraitions, instructions, pattern sheets, diagrams and lots of practice, you will learn to:

  1. Hold the crochet hook, managing yarn tension with demonstration, diagrams and practice
  2. Make a chain
  3. Make the basic stitches- i.e., double crochet, treble crochet, half-treble crochet, double-treble crochet
  4. Finishing – if motifs need to be applied to a completed chain, they can be pegged, stitched or fastened with a double crochet. Motifs can be embellished if desired with buttons, beads etc.
